About Our Founder
Yhuda Pilosof, founder of SMT, has over 50 years of experience in the field of rehabilitation medicine and the construction of prostheses. He has practiced since 1967 and continues to pass on the knowledge he has gained to doctors, physiotherapists, and technicians worldwide.
His education in medicine includes a prosthetics major in New York in 1974, further training with Ottobock in Germany in 1976 and Blashford, England, in 1978, along with multiple training courses at the Osor company throughout 1990, 2008, and 2010.
He is a standing member of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), an organization that brings together leading experts from around the world.
His life’s work includes establishing institutes for rehabilitative orthopedics and the production of prostheses across multiple countries. His global experience lets him bring unique knowledge in rehabilitation medicine, prostheses, and disability to SMT.
Global Activity
When a severe earthquake hit Haiti in 2010, Yehuda Filosof joined a special delegation to establish a rehabilitation system there, including doctors and physiotherapists with extensive experience in treating disaster victims.
In November 2010, Yehuda Filosof visited Peru to provide advice on the development of a rehabilitation program in a local hospital. As part of this project, he created a unique seminar on practical technology and techniques for building prostheses to instruct doctors and physiotherapists.
In 2015, Yehuda Filosof was sent on behalf of the Rotary World Organization to aid in rehabilitating soldiers in Odessa. He instructed technicians, physiotherapists, and doctors through a detailed seminar and participated in the physical construction of prostheses for soldiers himself.
